Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment Of Reading Difficulties Module Categorizes Readers In The Following Reader Profiles
A Graphic Profile Of Performance. Our Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment Of Reading Difficulties Module provides a graphic profile of performance on a series of reading tasks that begins with a simple perceptual task and ends with reading comprehension of paragraph length material. These graphic profiles are useful in several ways.
  • First, they allow for immediate identification of the place where a student's reading skills break down relative to age peers. You will be able to look at a profile and identify whether the student is weak in letter identification, word identification, sounding out of words, or listening or reading comprehension.
  • A second way that the profiles are useful is that they have diagnostic utility. Readers that have different characteristics show different profiles. A good reader shows one profile, a poor reader another, and a student with a learning disability yet another. Examining the profiles gives one a quick sense of the nature of the problem a reader is experiencing.

Determining Where The Process Of Reading Is Breaking Down. If you know there is a reading difficulty, we recommend the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment Of Reading Difficulties Module for testing. Our research-based software identifies a wide range of reading difficulties and determines where the reading process is breaking down. Analysis of the pattern of performance is a very powerful tool used to identify a variety of reading problems that range from a general poor reading skill to inconsistent reading due to attention deficit problems. Our assessment efforts involve measuring academic performance using Sentence Verification Tests (SVT) of listening and reading comprehension and computer-based assessments of reading competencies.

The Sentence Verification Technique SVT testing was developed by Dr. James Mike Royer of the Laboratory for the Assessment and Training of Academic Skills, University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Sentence Verification Technique (SVT) is a method for generating listening and reading comprehension tests that allows test developers to create tests based on virtually any written or spoken material.

Reassessment Testing Software For Progress Reporting. With the Reassessment Testing Module, a parent can repeatedly compare the performance of the child on the tasks performed during the initial assessment. If the intervention is working the parent will see improved performance on many of the tasks in the assessment battery. When a reading task is performed a parent looks for an increase in accuracy, an increase in speed performing the task and an increase in the percentile rank of the child on the task.
